Decade-long design meets grinding perfection

Built for precision and consistency, HG-2 by Weber Workshops is a premium manual grinder developed over more than a decade. As the successor to the HG-1, it introduces key upgrades such as a redesigned Integrated Bean Feeder with a bottom bearing, a 30% larger loading chamber, and an improved Magic Tumbler for smoother workflow and reduced retention.

Smart features for effortless, joyful brewing

At its core are 83mm conical burrs from Mazzer, treated with Weber’s food-safe TiN coating for durability and uniform grind quality. A few standout features include:

  • Two-speed transmission gearbox – makes grinding light or dark roasts easy and efficient
  • Foldable crank handle – reduces size for convenient storage
  • Integrated cleaning brush – stored inside the handle for quick maintenance

Ideal for hands-on coffee lovers who don’t want to compromise on grind quality or usability.

Features

Magnetic Dust Lid: The KEY’s popular anti-popcorning and dust lid has been brought to the HG-2. Magnets allow the lid to pull apart and off for cleaning, or to be suspended with magnets for loading beans into the burr chamber. Once loaded, the cover easily drops back down into place, preventing any fragments from bouncing out during grinding.

Transmission Gearbox: A first in a manual grinder, a proprietary 2-speed transmission has been designed and manufactured. Lighter roasts are no longer a burden to manually grind. Dropping down to 1st gear cuts the effort in half. For darker roasts, 2nd gear enables a faster grind.

Magic Tumbler: A patented mechanism for automated WDT grounds homogenisation. Zero overspill, ready to drop into a portafilter, Aeropress, moka pot, or pour-over apparatus. Mk2 improves upon this with EG-1 inspired wipers that further reduce retention and static, almost eliminating the need for RDT.

83mm Mazzer Conical Burrs and Integrated Bean Feeder: These 83mm conical burrs are the largest for home and commercial grinders, ensuring exceptional grind quality across brew methods. Rated for 5,000kg, they outlast several lifetimes of heavy use. Pre-aligned and pre-seasoned for excellent flavour extraction. TiN coating enhances longevity while being food-safe. The integrated bean feeder maintains consistent grind quality.

Integrated Cleaning Brush: Solid teak handle with a solid brass ferrule to protect the bristles when returned into the handle, and a hidden magnet to hold it in place. Unparalleled details reflect dedication to cleanliness. The brush head screws out and can be replaced individually.

Keeping Your HG-2 in Top Form

Burr Alignment

The HG-2 comes factory pre-aligned, ensuring optimal performance straight out of the box. Routine cleaning or regular use will not affect this alignment, and users should never need to make adjustments.

At the Weber Workshops facility, each unit is meticulously assembled with precise alignment and centring of the burrs, tailored to the specific tolerances of each set. Once aligned, the mechanism is securely fastened, tested by grinding an espresso shot for verification, and then thoroughly cleaned before packaging. As a result, a small trace of coffee dust may be present upon unboxing, this is entirely normal and does not indicate prior use.

Burr Replacement

HG-2 comes equipped with pre-seasoned 83mm Mazzer conical burrs rated to handle over 5,000kg of coffee, effectively lasting several lifetimes. Small pebbles or debris in the beans, however, can significantly reduce their longevity.

When replacement becomes necessary, Weber Workshops stocks genuine burrs featuring proprietary partial pre-seasoning and a durable, food-safe titanium nitride (TiN) coating designed to extend their lifespan. These replacement burrs are available for purchase here.

Maintenance and Cleaning

The HG-2 has been thoughtfully engineered for straightforward and efficient cleaning, no tools required, and a full clean can be completed in seconds rather than hours.

Its dust lid can be either removed or suspended above the grinder using built-in magnets, exposing the bean feeder aperture at the top of the burrs. A few strokes with a brush or a quick blast of air easily clears any residual grounds from above. The lower funnel is secured by twelve powerful rare earth magnets and detaches effortlessly with a simple twist. Once removed, the lower burrs are fully accessible and can be cleaned in moments.

Weber Workshops maintains that a well-designed product should also be easy to clean. This focus on effortless maintenance not only enhances brew quality but also ensures a more hygienic and tidy coffee space.
