MONT58 Half-Caf Blend: Full Flavour, Zero Compromise
The Half-Caf blend is designed for those who love the ritual and taste of coffee but seek a gentler lift, particularly later in the day. This award-winning mix is a precise combination of 50% naturally processed Decaf from Colombia and 50% regular caffeinated Honduran beans, delivering a fabulous tasting coffee with half of the caffeine, a definite win-win. It is the roastery's go-to for a mellow, afternoon cup.

Flavour Profile & Roast Details
Taste: Creamy, Nutty, Sweet
Roast: Medium-Dark
Strength: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
Origin & Composition: A Perfect Union
This blend unites two distinct speciality origins to create a profile that is richer and smoother than the sum of its parts.

-
50% Regular Caffeinated: Sourced from high-altitude farms in Honduras (likely a high-grown region like Copán or Marcala), known for its balanced, Nutty base and rich body. The varietals used are typically high-quality Arabica such as Catuai, Caturra, or Bourbon.
-
50% Naturally Processed Decaf: Sourced from Colombia, this decaf component is a Natural Process Decaf. This high-quality decaf is essential for retaining the Sweet and Creamy characteristics, ensuring no 'washed-out' taste.
-
The Blend Goal: The blend is constructed to achieve maximum flavour harmony: the Honduran component provides the strength and structure, while the Colombian decaf ensures a luxurious, Creamy sweetness.
Processing: Sugarcane Sweetness and Andean Quality
The excellence of this blend relies on the processing of both components, traditional Central American quality for the caffeinated bean and a specialised, flavour-enhancing method for the decaf.

-
Honduran Process: The caffeinated beans are typically Fully Washed and sun-dried at high altitude. This meticulous process ensures a clean, consistent base, highlighting the natural Nutty and Chocolaty notes.
-
Colombian Decaf Process (Sugarcane EA): The decaf beans are almost certainly processed using the Sugarcane (Ethyl Acetate) Decaffeination Method, which originated in Colombia. This chemical-free process uses a naturally occurring compound from fermented sugarcane, which bonds with and removes the caffeine. Crucially, this method is known to enhance the natural sweetness of the bean, perfectly complementing the Half-Caf's flavour profile.

Recommended Brew Methods
The Medium-Dark roast and smooth, full-bodied profile make this Half-Caf blend incredibly versatile, excelling particularly in methods that bring out its sweetness and creamy texture.
Espresso: Use a Fine grind (Optimal Method). This blend is tailored for espresso, providing a rich, creamy, and chocolatey shot with a consistent crema, making it an ideal, lower-caffeine base for lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos.

French Press (Cafetière): Use a Coarse grind and steep for 4-5 minutes. This immersion method enhances the full body and maximises the comforting Nutty and Sweet notes for a rich, relaxing cup.

Batch Brew / Filter: Use a Medium grind for a clean, consistent all-day coffee. The balanced extraction delivers a reliable, smooth cup with the perfect amount of afternoon kick.

About The Roastery
Mont58 Coffee is the passion project of husband-and-wife team, Shai and Maya. Their journey began quite literally at home in 2018, when they took the plunge and jacked in their full-time jobs to start roasting coffee in a humble garden shed in South-East London. Shai, whose passion for coffee was sparked by childhood memories of drinking cardamom-spiced coffee with his grandfather, honed his craft on a tiny 250g machine.

This small-batch venture quickly took off, especially during the lockdown when the local community wholeheartedly embraced their door-to-door, bike-delivered coffee.

While they have since scaled up to a larger roastery in Ashford, Kent, and opened further sites, the spirit of that original shed, small business, big heart, remains central to their award-winning, ethical, and community-focused mission. It's a proper 'started from the ground up' success story, but with significantly better beans.
