MONT58 Cold Brew Blend: Smooth, Soft, and Icy Perfection

What could be more perfect than an icy coffee on a summer’s day? This blend is especially mixed to create a smooth, soft drink that works beautifully with just ice or with milk. Roasted to a Medium level, the blend is intentionally low in acid and high in natural sweetness, guaranteeing a consistent, delightful cold brew every time.

Flavour Profile & Roast Details

Taste: Soft, Light, smooth (Notes of dark cocoa, toasted nuts, and inherent sweetness)

Roast: Medium (Optimised for cold extraction)

Strength: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Origin & Composition: Built for Smoothness

The blend is a strategic mix of high-body beans sourced from regions renowned for their smooth, nutty, and chocolatey profiles—the ideal foundation for cold extraction.

  • The Component Origins: The blend is primarily composed of low-acid Arabica beans, most likely a foundation of Pulped Natural Brazilian coffee (for body and nutty notes) combined with a clean, high-grown Central American component (like Guatemala or Honduras) for structural sweetness.

  • The Terroir: Beans are selected from moderate-to-high altitudes where consistent climate promotes high-density, sweet beans that can withstand the long cold-brew process.

  • The Blend Goal: The specific origins are chosen because they retain their Soft, Smooth characteristics even after 12-24 hours of cold-water steeping, ensuring the final product is never sour or bitter.

Processing & Quality Control: Low-Acid Assurance

The process involves prioritizing beans with specific processing methods that naturally enhance sweetness and body.

  • Processing Method: The beans primarily use Natural or Pulped Natural (Honey) methods. These techniques allow the fruit mucilage to dry partially on the bean, enhancing the natural sugars and yielding the crucial Smoothness and Soft, Light flavour profile.

  • Low-Acid Guarantee: Traditional brewing methods extract acids and oils very quickly, but cold brewing extracts very slowly. By selecting low-acid beans, the roastery guarantees that the long extraction process will yield a naturally sweet, concentrated brew rather than a harsh, sour one.

  • Quality: All components are Speciality Grade, ensuring consistency in bean size, density, and flavour.

Recommended Brew Methods (Cold Extraction Focus)

This blend is versatile but is explicitly formulated to excel in methods that use cold water and long immersion times.

Cold Brew Immersion: Use a Coarse grind (Optimal Method). Steep coffee in cold, filtered water (a standard ratio is 1:8 or 1:10) for 12–24 hours at room temperature or in the fridge. This yields a clean, sweet concentrate perfect for mixing with ice or milk.

Japanese Iced Pour-Over: Use a Medium grind. Brew the coffee hot directly over ice in a V60 or Chemex. This method preserves a little more of the coffee's aromatic complexity while still yielding a clean, bright, cold drink.

French Press (Cafetière) Cold Brew: Use a Coarse grind. Steep coffee in the cafetière for 12–18 hours and press gently. This provides an easy, low-tech way to make a smooth, concentrated cold brew without needing specialized equipment.

About The Roastery

Mont58 Coffee is the passion project of husband-and-wife team, Shai and Maya. Their journey began quite literally at home in 2018, when they took the plunge and jacked in their full-time jobs to start roasting coffee in a humble garden shed in South-East London. Shai, whose passion for coffee was sparked by childhood memories of drinking cardamom-spiced coffee with his grandfather, honed his craft on a tiny 250g machine.

This small-batch venture quickly took off, especially during the lockdown when the local community wholeheartedly embraced their door-to-door, bike-delivered coffee.

While they have since scaled up to a larger roastery in Ashford, Kent, and opened further sites, the spirit of that original shed, small business, big heart, remains central to their award-winning, ethical, and community-focused mission. It's a proper 'started from the ground up' success story, but with significantly better beans.
